Challenging Nord Stream 2 | WEBINAR

24. November 2021, 11:00 - 12:00

Together with MEPs Michael Gahler and Petras Auštrevičius, I would like to invite you to a 60-minute webinar on the current situation around Nord Stream 2.

After the construction of the disputed Nord Stream 2 pipeline has been technically finished this year, a number of legal and political battles lies still ahead of the project. The German competent authority, the Bundesnetzagentur, has started the certification procedure for the pipeline in early September 2021 and has up to four months to assess whether the pipeline meets the necessary European requirements. Earlier this week, this process has been temporarily suspended.

It is foreseeable that the judicial tug-of-war over Nord Stream 2 will continue for some time to come. That’s why we feel it would be good to hear from the Polish and Ukrainian perspectives how they assess the compatibility of Nord Stream 2 with the European energy regulation, the principle of energy solidarity and the changes in the energy landscape that would result from Nord Stream 2.

We will also discuss with Members of the European Parliament what political next steps could look like.

When: Wednesday, 24 November, 11 – 12
